Apply for a 2010 Campaign Grant!
Dear State Leaders,
Below please find the CDAAA Grant Application for the 2010 election. This is a tough election, and we’re sure you’re working hard. Make sure to get this out to your chapter leaders–those who you think might be able to use this to their benefit. Please email it back to us, at this address, by October 3rd. We’re looking to fund well-thought out electoral programs that, if implemented wisely, will help Democrats win this year. Good luck!
Overview
The College Democrats of America Alumni Association is planning to help fund state federations, chapters, and local organizations that anticipate being key parts of the 2010 election. In this grant application, you should explain how your chapter or state federation aims to make a difference at either the national or local level. Those with competitive districts are especially encouraged to apply.
We are looking for plans that explain, in as much detail as possible, your electoral plans, and how your requested funding would make those plans possible. We seek plans focused on 2010 elections; grant applications focused on long-term infrastructure-building will not be considered at this time.
As always, details matter. Money is limited and this election will certainly be challenging. Precise, impactful applications are far more likely to receive funding. Grant applicants do not need to reinvent the wheel. This is an election, and tried-and-true election strategies will certainly be under consideration for funding.
Please note that we cannot fund candidate-specific campaign efforts. We can, however, help you help Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.
To be considered, applications must be received by October 3, 2010. Submit your application to CDAAAGRANTS2010@GMAIL.COM on midnight of that day. Funds will be dispersed to the winning applications as soon as possible thereafter.
Application
Summary of Project
Please explain, in as much detail as possible, what you hope to accomplish with your grant. Why and how will your project help Democrats in 2010?
Leadership
Have you, and/or those leading this project, undertaken electoral efforts on behalf of the College Democrats before? If so, please describe those efforts. If not, please briefly describe any previous experience with elections.
Budget
Please itemize your budget in as much detail as possible. If you can, lay out your budget in two separate columns–one “operational,” and the other “ideal.” The first column should account for those expenses that are absolutely necessary for your project to function; the second should account for those that would allow it to be as successful as possible in a perfect world.
Finally, make sure to note when each item would actually be spent. If you are asking for money for a bus ride, tell us when that bus ride would be; if you are asking for money for a canvassing operation, tell us when that operation would take place.
